The Brescia University College Students’ Council is saddened by the news of Brescia University College’s integration with Western University. While we respect the decision, we want to acknowledge and validate the concerns surrounding the integration and the way in which the announcement was presented to the community.

Although women are the majority in almost all programs at Western University, women-identifying individuals are still an equity-deserving group and continue to face discrimination in all facets of life, particularly in academia. Stating that there is a decreasing need for women’s spaces diminishes the experiences of many women who are a part of Brescia’s 104-year history.

The Brescia University College Students’ Council remains dedicated to supporting students at Brescia. We will continue our operations this year to provide the best student experience possible, including resuming our long-standing tradition of Brescia Ball.
