Sunday Ajak Wins USC Presidential Race

In a record sweep for voter turnout since 2012, Sunday Ajak nabbed the USC presidency with a stunning 6 955 votes. Ajak’s opponent, Nika Bajaj, also garnered an impressive number of votes, 5 384, winning more than Ethan Gardner, the former USC president, who won in the 2022’s election season. Ajak, a sociology and social justice and peace student from Kings, ran on a platform that embraced diversity, affordability, advocacy, and student programming. “We are students that have the power to change the world,” Ajak said in response to his sweeping win.

This year’s election saw a record-high number of votes - the highest that the USC has recorded since 2012. 38% of Western’s community voted this election season, bringing in 12 725 votes. This was also the first in-person election held by the USC in three years.
